This morning, we will assist you in transferring to the airport for a short flight to Potosi, a high-altitude city that was once a thriving silver mining center. Although mining activity has declined, this city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, still retains its colonial charm. Impressive churches, elegant architecture and the magnificent Royal Mint are ready to welcome you.
Explore Potosi and its Silver Mines
After breakfast, embark on your journey in and around Potosí, beginning with a visit to the mineral-rich mountain of Cerro Rico. According to legend, this peak produced enough silver to build a massive silver bridge from Potosí to Madrid.
Venture into the heart of the mountain to explore the silver mines that helped finance Spain’s South American Empire. Learn about the fascinating history of silver production in Bolivia and discover how these mines continue to contribute to the local economy.
