TRIP OVERVIEW

In this program we combine the best destinations of the ancient capital of the Inca empire in 6 days; It begins with the city of Cusco, we will visit Moray, the ancient and wonderful Inca biological laboratory, then in the Sacred Valley where the Inca settlements are located that present as checkpoints before entering the “Inca trail” that leads to the citadel of Machupicchu.
This place is unique for the majesty of its buildings, and its location that is surrounded by lush and magnificent tropical vegetation and to end the trip we will surprise you with the second most famous destination in Peru, the mountain of colors that is at the foot of the highest snowy Ausangate in Cusco.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: CITY TOUR

ARRIVAL TO CUSCO- CITY TOUR

Welcome to Cusco International Airport! Upon arrival a representative of the Peru Vip Travel team will be waiting for you to give you a warm welcome and transfer you to your hotel located in the historic center of the city.

During the ride, we will have an introduction to the city. Upon arrival at the hotel, we will enjoy a coca tea, ideal to acclimatize to the altitude and begin your experience in this unique place.

In the afternoon, we will immerse ourselves in the rich history of the Inca capital. We will begin by exploring the Plaza de Armas and the majestic Cathedral, home to valuable paintings of the Cuzco school and treasures of jewels, silver and precious stones. Then, we will head to the Convent of Santo Domingo, Temple of the Sun or Q’oricancha.

The excursion continues outside the city to visit the Inca complexes of Q’enqo and the impressive Sacsayhuaman Fortress, strategically built on the summit overlooking the city of Cusco. The enormous stones of the outer walls of the complex were carved and joined with precision, some of these stones exceed 09 feet in height and weigh over 120 tons.

In the evening, you will have the option to explore the city of Cusco with its picturesque streets, steeped in tradition from the Inca and colonial period, offering an enchanting contrast.

DAY 2: SALT MINES & MORAY

CUSCO- MORAY & SALINERAS DE MARAS- CUSCO

Our exciting adventure in Cusco continues. Today we will head to the charming village of Maras, located 52 km from the city of Cusco, in the province of Urubamba. Here you will find the most important salt mines in the region, exploited since Inca times until today.

We will continue exploring the amazing Inca laboratory “Moray”, located at 3500 meters above sea level. In this place, you will discover circular terraces of different sizes, a true testimony of the ingenuity of the Inca civilization.

To end the day, we will visit the picturesque village of Chinchero. Here, we will witness a fascinating weaving demonstration by the women of the community, using ancestral techniques.

Around 14:00 pm, we will begin our return to the city of Cusco.

DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY

CUSCO- SACRED VALLEY- CUSCO

Today we explore the ‘Sacred Valley of the Incas’, after enjoying breakfast, we begin our exploration with a brief stop at the Taray viewpoint, from where we will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Valley. We will continue exploring the fascinating archaeological center of Pisac, followed by a visit to its vibrant handicraft market, where you will have the opportunity to purchase some pieces from local artisans.

We will delight in an exquisite buffet lunch in Urubamba, prepared with fresh ingredients indigenous to the Sacred Valley, before continuing on to the imposing fortress of Ollantaytambo. This place was built as a bastion to guard the access to this region and to protect against possible incursions of the indigenous peoples of the jungle.

We will take a charming walk through the streets of the town, where the traces of the ancient military, religious and cultural center from the time of the Inca Empire are still preserved. An experience that will immerse us in the rich history of this land.

Then, we will return to Cusco, taking with us the unique memories of this trip.

DAY 4: MACHUPICCHU

CUSCO- MACHUPICCHU- CUSCO

Today, we will embark on the realization of a lifelong dream.
After a delicious breakfast in the morning we will be ready for this exciting adventure, we will depart at the appointed time to the train station (San Pedro, Poroy or Ollantaytambo).

We will board the train to the charming town of Aguas Calientes, enjoying an impressive landscape, full of vegetation, flora, green mountains and the Urubamba River.

Upon arrival, our guide will be waiting for you, and together we will board the bus that will take us to the Machu Picchu checkpoint for a 30 minute ride, on the way we will have spectacular views of mountains and the Urubamba River, which forms a deep canyon.

You will enjoy a first view of the sanctuary, together with our guide we will immerse ourselves in the history, architecture and mysteries of Machu Picchu during a tour of approximately 2 hours, visiting its highlights such as the Intihuatana, the temple of the Condor among others. We will have free time to explore on our own and immerse ourselves in the unique energy of this wonder.

After the enriching visit, we will take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes to enjoy lunch (not included).

To conclude this unique experience, we will board the train to Ollantaytambo, where our representative will meet us and take us back to our hotel in Cusco. This quiet and comfortable closing marks the end of a day full of discoveries in the majestic Machupicchu.

DAY 5: RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

CUSCO- RAINBOW MOUNTAIN- CUSCO

This day we will leave very early to appreciate the Mountain of Colors or also called Vinicunca located in the heart of the Cordillera del Vilcanota, approximately 100 km from the city of Cusco.

A 2 hour drive to the picturesque village of Cusipata on the way we will have panoramic views of fields and the Andes. After a delicious breakfast, we will continue for another 45 minutes to the starting point of our trek.

On the way, we will contemplate unique landscapes, observe South American camelids with their shepherds dressed in colorful costumes. In the distance, we will be able to contemplate the imposing Ausangate snow-capped mountain. Once at the top, marvel at the peculiar tonalities of the mountain and capture unique photographs.

After exploring this place, we will return to the starting point.
Back in Cusipata, we will recharge our batteries with a comforting lunch before starting our return trip to Cusco.

DAY 6: RETURN HOME

The last day in the city of Cusco; after breakfast you will have free time to do some souvenir shopping and more, at the agreed time we will transfer you to the airport and the farewell by all our team.
