Our first stop will be the Maras Salt Mines, an impressive complex of thousands of salt pools nestled on the mountainside. After breakfast, we\u2019ll begin one of the most anticipated experiences of the trip: a visit to Machu Picchu, the legendary Inca citadel and one of the wonders of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ll head to the train station (San Pedro, Poroy, or Ollantaytambo) to board the train bound for Aguas Calientes. During the journey, we\u2019ll enjoy spectacular scenery\u2014green mountains, lush vegetation, and the Urubamba River\u2014as we make our way toward the edge of the Andean jungle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon arrival, our guide will be waiting for us to begin the bus ride up to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Along the way, we\u2019ll take in breathtaking views of the Urubamba River Canyon and the mountains surrounding this ancient city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon entering the citadel, we\u2019ll take a guided tour lasting approximately two hours, exploring its main areas such as the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Condor, ceremonial plazas, and agricultural terraces. Very early in the morning, we\u2019ll set out on our adventure to Vinicunca, known as the Mountain of Colors, one of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in the Vilcanota Mountain Range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the way to Cusipata, we\u2019ll enjoy panoramic views of the Andes, farmlands, and traditional communities that preserve the essence of Andean life. After breakfast, we\u2019ll continue to the starting point of the hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The trail will take us through landscapes of great beauty, where we\u2019ll see llamas, alpacas, and local shepherds in their colorful traditional attire. In the distance, the imposing snow-capped Ausangate will accompany us on our journey until we reach the summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
